NILS International is the top-executive body of NILS and overlooks the functioning of the whole network. The NILS International Board is currently looking for applications from aspiring candidates who would like to see themselves as one of the Board members of NILS.
Needless to say, the experience is going to be priceless, but we are only looking for candidates who can give in plenty of their time to the organisation for one-year, without any compromises.
APPLICATION
If you are interested, please send us a Statement of Purpose of at least 1,000 words and it should cover the following:
1. Your leadership experience;
2. Which board position do you wish to apply for?
3. Why do you think you should be elected for the board position?
4. What do you seek to do in the twelve months of your tenure?
5. Anything else that you would like to say that would strengthen your application.
Please also send two references who can refer you for the position you are applying for. The contact details of the referees are to be provided for us to contact them. The referees cannot include peers or any such person whose reference for you might be biased. The NILS Election team will do a background check for every reference, and any any non-legitimate references may lead to rejection of the reference letter or rejection of the candidature, at the discretion of the election team.
For those who have worked with a NILS National Board in the past, the election team will take reviews from other team members from the Board.
If shortlisted, the candidates have to send an email with a powerpoint presentation backing their candidacy which should summarize their Statement of Purpose. This presentation will be sent to all the national chapters of NILS for them to cast their vote.
EMAIL/SUBMISSION/QUERIES
All the emails, submissions and queries must be sent to office@nilsinternational.org.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION
The deadline for submission of the Statement of Purpose is February 20, 2018 (05:00 PM - GMT).
WHAT DO WE LOOK AT?
1. Good leadership experience: Your involvement with NILS is an added advantage, however we do not mind giving chance to such student leaders who wish to start their involvement with NILS now - provide they prove that they are amazing!
2. Diversity: We pay a lot of attention to diversity. We want the board to be as diverse as possible, because our diversity is what we are proud of the most. If we receive two equally strong applications and one of them from a country where we do not have an existing membership base, or from a country from which no other applications have been received for candidacy, that application would be preferred than the other. We however, make it a point, to involve other candidates in non-board positions, but work closely with them.
3. Communication Skills: Being an international organisation, English is very important! Therefore, good communication and written English is mandatory. The election team will schedule an interview to look into this aspect of your application.
4. Strength of your application: Lastly, it all comes down to your application and your ability to convince the readers on why you are the one. We leave it to you!
